    He worked in Leather Repair. His widow writes: "Grant was occupi ed as an expert shoe repairman and made prescription orthopedic brace s. We owned our own business. Grant was a talented person and a good art ist. He used that talent in making his business a success. He could repa ir or make most anything anyone brought in to him. We sold Sanders and To ni Lama boots along with some other leather goods. He repaired and rebui lt saddles and made all kinds of horse equipment. At one time he was famo us for the dog boots he made for the pheasant hunters who flocked to our a rea to hunt. He spent two years in the military, serving 18 months in Yok ohoma, Japan. A good clean man with good character and his credit was exc ellent, a good provider, a loving husband, and a good father to the kid s. We owned two excellent quarter horses. Grant was a very good roper a nd excellent dancer. We belonged to a riding club and square dance club f or many years. A combination of Gene Kelley and Fred Astair. Any of t he relatives who have lived around us will tell you the same. The childr en have inherited many of his talents and so have the grandchildren. He w as the love of my life and I miss him."
