      He worked as an inventor and an automotive industrialist. He invented t he first automobile heater and installed them in ambulances during World W ar I and then thousands for automobiles until 1928. He made automobile pe rfection heaters and Swan carburetors holding patents on intake manifol ds for auto engines. He won an important litigation for infringement on m anifold patents.
