      He worked as an Engineer and had a machine shop in Lyons, IA. He and h is son are said to have invented a turbine that brought water into the hou ses. They built and maintained the water works in Clinton and Lyons, I A. Reported to have invented the steam engine that ran the old paddle whe el boats up and down the Mississippi river.
