Physician. Worked in private medical practice for 58 years and as a surge on for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Education included graduati on from Sherman High School, Chautauqua County, NY. Earned his MD Degr ee from the University of Michigan in 1872. Member of numerous organizati ons, including the Fox River Valley Medical Society, the Chicago Medic al Society, the State Medical Society, and the American Medical Associati on, He took his First Degree of Medicine at Cannongate, Kilwinny Lodg e, of Edinburgh, Scotland, and his chapter and commandery degrees in Elgin .
His name was a household work in Elgin, IL. As a physician he passed h is "majority" there, arriving in the city July 17, 1882 and practicing h is profession in Elgin since. He was born at Sherman, Chautauqua Count y, NY where he attended high school. Next becoming a student at the Unive rsity of Michigan and in 1872 earned his medical degree. Some time lat er he spent a year in Bellevue hospital, NY and another year at the Univer sity of Edinburgh, Scotland. His education was thorough and that althou gh when he began to heal diseases at Elburn, Kane, IL, June 8,1872, he w as well equipped, his later studies were of great value to him. For ten y ears and one month he remained at Elburn, and then removed to Elgin, whe re a wider field opened up larger possibilities. His practice, becau se of his broad acquaintance, was extensive from the start.
