      He was a Farmer. Phineas and his family migrated to Canada in 1801, livi ng on land which was a Crown grant located on lot 6 of the fourth concessi on of South Gower Township. His sons took adjoinin gparcels and the ar ea is called Pelton's Corners'. He served as Quarter-Master's Sergea nt in the War of 1812 and later held municipal offices. He was a stric t, puritan, powerful debater and became well off.
