      Rex Pelton says in his Hinckley Pelton book page 55, "In 1869 he went to w ork for two years in MI. In Feb 1871, he drove a team of oxen with a sl ed loaded with farm machinery, and a pig, leading a cow, to the Townsh ip of Dallas, Barron, WI and there filed on a 160 acre homestead. He was o ne of the very first settlers of the Township.
      He served as Town Supervisor, Town Chairman, member of the Country Boar d, member of the School Board, and at the time of his death, was servi ng on the City Council of Chetek as Alderman."
