      Originally Platt worked as a Tanner in Putnam, NY and having heard flatter ing prospects of Monticello, NY, he moved there in the summer of 180 4. He built a saw-mill and a temporary shanty followed by a house in Mont icello. He was also a Farmer and Sullivan County Judge, after which he w as known as Judge Pelton.
