He was a Farmer. Oscar served in the military in the Civil War, 1861-186 6. He could not resist the call of Columbia to rally supporters for the d efense of the flag and our government. He enlisted at the first call in c ompany D, 13th Maine Volunteers and went with General Ben Butten to New Or leans. He also served under Banks in the Red River Campaign. After servi ng three years he received his honorable discharge and returned to his hom e. But he had forfeited his health in the struggle and suffered from t he troubles contracted in the war.
He resided in Wadena, Wadena, MN 1878. At age 23, he moved to LaCross e, WI remaining one year in the lumber business. He next bought land in I rempraleau County and settled down to farming. After 7 years he locat ed in Wadena County, MN and took land. His parents followed him in 187 6. He was one of the pioneers and 16 years were spent tilling the so il in that country Then he went to Saint Cloud. In 1895 he moved to Ida ho for his health. He benefited much from the change. He located two mil es northeast from Lewiston and gave his attention to general farming and r aising stock.

Phineas, CT, b. 1712 MA, d. May 24, 1799 CT, married Mary McKay, was list ed as a Soldier (no other military records of Phineas).

Phineas served in the Militia under General Gates in 1777. He suffered fr om "numb Palsey" for 23 years before his death. Phineas and his brothe r, Johnson, inherited from their father, John Pelton (1682), 400 acres cal led school lot and one half the dwelling house thereon. The old homeste ad of John Pelton the 1st, of Saybrook, lies in what is now the Twp of Por tland.

Ithamar Pelton (1744-1807) responded to the Lexington Alarm from Chatha m, Conn., where he was born. He died in Portland, Me.

Phineas Pelton (1712-99) in 1777 served in the militia under General Gate s. He died in Chatham.

He was a stric t, puritan, powerful debater and became well off.
