Fifty volunteers managed to get the str eet car back on the tracks. Taking a dim view of the whole thing were a c ouple stern minions of the law - City Policeman Bill Huff and Bob McElr oy - who cited the entire sled crew for disturbing the peace, reckless ope ration or something of the kind. The Cadillac of Mount Vernon bobs was t he Jay Pelton owned outfit, with a carrying capacity of 22 passengers. Ja y, a bulky baseball catcher with Larry Mahaffey's Mount Vernon Reds, as we ll as various other local clubs, was always up front at the controls of h is "monster".
