Joel was a soldier and served under Washington in many c ampaigns, Being present at Cornwallis' surrender. He enlisted early and s aw LaFayette and other great men. He was a story teller and drew a milita ry pension. Stayed active all his life and walked to Augustus to recei ve it at 80 years old. After the was he settled in Maine.
