    He was a Cabinet maker. J.M. Pelton states on page 84, "Cabinet mak er at Alexandria, VA., where he died of cancer of the throat in 1829. M r. Pelton made the coffin for General George Washington. A piece of the w ood from which it was made is still preserved in the family. He was a ve ry quiet benevolent man. A French refugee was supported by Mr Pelton f or some years until hs death occured."
