    While quite young he went to Columbia Co., NY, remaining there until he w as 15. Spent two more years on a farm, then followed by one year of boati ng on the Hudson River, came to the town of Winfield, Sauk, WI in Dec 185 0, walking overland from Milwaukee to his father farm, where he spent t he next two years. Then spent two years in Yellow River Pinery, then t wo years breaking land and threshing.
    He worked as a Farmer in Winfield.

    Ithamar was a fine mechanic and famous builder of his time. It is said th at me may have built 13 churches, including the Congregational church of E ssex, CT. He and his brother, Nathan, served in the "French War" under Ge n. Amherst. He may have also served in the war of the revolution as he w as at the burning of New London, CT.
