Then served with Gene ral Burnside in Virginia, where they joined the army of Potomac, being ma de a part of the Eighteenth Corps. At Antietam, MD 17 Sep 1862 he was seve rely wounded, taken prisoner and paroled on the field. He was exchang ed in the follwing November and was discharged 4 Mar 1863.
