    Like her mother, Veletta was also an excellent commercial cook and bake r. She was also a talented seamstress and quilt maker. She served as sec retary for the county Register of Deeds and secretary for the Superintende nt of Schools.

    Alma's daughter, Veletta, said that Alma was to have been named Lois Virgi nia, but at the last minute they decided on Alma. Alma was a commercial s eamstress and baker. She had a licensed bakery in her home and bak ed in a tent oven on a 2 burner gast stove. Alma had custom-made angel ca ke pans and she made the most beautiful wedding cakes in town. She was al so famous for her beautifully decorated Christmas cookies. Eventually h er baking talent won her an electric stove.

    He worked operating sawmills and farming during his lifetime in WI. The fa mily told stories of his floating logs down the Wisconsin River through t he famous but treacherous Dells area. In later years he became a circu it riding Methodist preacher. Officially he died of acute indigestion a nd heart failure. However, those close to him said he had been doing a l ot of house painting and exhibited symptoms of lead poisoning.
