Mr. Pelton says his father used to tell of the work of hor se thieves who stole two horses, led behind the wagon in halter, while t he family was riding in the wagon. Not long afterwards the theft of the h orses was discovered, and the father and uncle unharnessed the pole hors es from the wagon and armed with their rifles, rode back until they overto ok the thieves and recovered their horses.
