Inuvik crest45 viewsBlazon: Party per pale Sable and Or, the figure of an Eskimo in native
garb, Argent, embellished Azure, his back affronte and launching
with his dexter arm a lighting flash Gules.
Significance: The black and yellow background is symbolic of the
long, seasonal Arctic nights and days. The Eskimo is used here in
reference to the meaning of the word "Inuvik" -"The Place of
Man"; or "The Place Where Man Is". He is shown in the act of
hurling a flash of lightning, as a reference to naval communication.
Ship's Colours: Yellow and Black.
